That was with 1700 girls going through rush. If those numbers are somewhat correct 300 girls didn't make it to the end. We have about 1500 this year so numbers might be a tad smaller but with all sororities having houses we should not have girls dropping out because they don't want to be in that house. All of the Sororities are fantastic at Uark. So to answer your question. We will not know till the end but UARK can handle placing 1500 girls. They will keep the totals up not make the houses smaller.

It is a system called RFM and is based on past retention numbers for each house, trending numbers during current recruitment, and the number of pnm's still in recruitment at each round. Based on these numbers, after each round, every house is given the number of invitations they are allowed to offer for the next one. After the pref round when each pnm has signed her card, the various quotas are set. Only then do houses submit their bid lists and bid matching takes place. Every pnm who ranks both houses (or just the one) is guaranteed a bid to one of them, even if this puts a house over their quota. A pnm is not guaranteed a bid if she attended more than one pref but only ranks one of them (suicides.)

It is a computer system. The sororities will know close to what they will need. Very simple explanation. They will submit their list on pref night (if 200 girls go to Kappa pref, kappa will list the girls in order of preference 1-200 (list 1 and 2) and the computer will sort it keep in mind they might not get the top 100 on their list. This is where you finally have a small say in where you want to go. You could be #50 on kappas list but you put down your other house that you prefed first. If that house has you on their list high enough then you will go to that house and then number 101 on kappas list will get a bid. If kappa can take 100 they will get 100. With RFM if you make it to pref and go to all of your parties and do not (SIP). You will get a bid. The system works you just have to trust it.

Just don't worry about what is out of your control. Be your best authentic self going through recruitment. That is all YOU can do. When cuts come don't try to justify them. Just remember you are closer to finding your sorority home, which can only be one house in the end.

best ranking? the numbers literally change every year? like the year before pi phi and tridelt took super small pledge classes, while chi o and especially kappa took significantly larger pledge classes, with similar differences all down the line... the numbers are too inconsistent to mean anything.

You are right that other things go into the numbers. Namely how many active members dropped out the year before. Dropping out is not necessarily because anything is wrong. More often it's things like leaving for nursing school, transferring closer to home, studying abroad, etc. The goal is for everyone to hover around 400 members or whatever it is. So if 25 girls dropped for whatever reason then the pledge class may be larger.

We have an awesome greek system. I wish we could move on from top to lower but sites like this promote that.
