tri delt methodist?

Hi. Obviously I’m following all the Greek accounts bc I’m about to go through and have a few friends or acquaintances in each house. I saw several posts of all the Tri delts going to Methodist service together? Is their required of all members in their hour or just optional? I am catholic and I don’t think I would feel comfortable being forced to attend a church service that is not my denomination. I’m all for people knowing Jesus, but this is a very personal relationship for me. I just don’t want to feel pressured.
Is this common in other houses?

This is a tradition they have been doing since the 80s. I’m sure it is not required if you have a difference of beliefs. Probably chose Methodist because they are the most “relaxed” and have a pretty open door policy for all denominations and it’s close to campus .

AXO was founded in 1885 at DePauw University, Greencastle Indiana, which is a University founded by the Methodist Church! The original AXO founders were some of the first collegiate women who were in the School of Music and were formed for sisterhood as well as advancement of the Art of Music, and all sang in the chapel on DePauw Campus! This is the reason that the Lyre (Harp) is their symbol. Please don't say AXO does not have Christian foundations as all the founders as well as first Chapter was at a Methodist University where they sang regularly. Of course today AXO welcomes members of any religious affiliation or no affiliation, this is not a requirement of admission.

Yeah if you think an hour of church is bad you really won’t like what you will hear during initiation in just about every house. All founded in the 1800s with rituals that reflect that time period and Christian values. With that said I don’t think any house pushes religion on you during the course of normal events so there is nothing to stress about.

While this may be true AXO explicitly states that they are not religiously affiliated. However, this shouldn’t affect any PNMs decision to rush them or any sorority based on religion as all houses have many many girls involved in church. Alpha Chi has bible studies and prayer groups as do all the houses

One of my close friends is a Catholic tridelt (they have quite a few) and was excused from the service for mass. From what she told me it’s a tradition as it’s the church who helped them charter??? I have a hard time believing they could ever force members to attend a church service, especially in !this! political climate.

Look at it this way - going to a service with all your sisters can be a really fulfilling experience and the Methodist church has nothing that would feel weird or off to a Catholic. They are not making you join - just going will probably be a nice experience. I wouldn't rule it out. I was raised Catholic but spent a lot of time with a Methodist youth program as well (long story) and I would say embrace it.
