are there heavy fines for not going to greek events?
by: For realz???
Hi guys,
I am planning on rushing and of course I know that going Greek is a time commitment. However, I have heard that some chapters will fine you a large amount if you cannot attend an event. Is this true? Are you expected to make every social/chapter event on the calendar? I just wanna prepare myself for this sort of obligation.
Thanks!

There may be fines if a time commitment for an expected project is not met. (Popping for those homecoming signs that are in front of the houses) There are certain events where attendance is mandatory. But not every social event is mandatory- sororities understand class/test schedules. Grades come first. But yes, there are expectations from a sorority member. There is an incentive to earn points if you are wanting to live in house the following year. Make sense? Good luck during recruitment. 😊
#2by: You’ll be fine
Recruitment practice, chapter, philanthropy events, some Greek life events, etc. are required. Functions, some pep rallies, other houses’ philanthropy events, other Greek life events, etc. are not required. It’s a pretty big commitment, sometimes 2 hours a week sometimes 10+ hours a week, just depending on events and time of year. I’m an engineering major in clubs and have managed fine so you should be fine.
