Why are some houses like PhiMu crammed into a tiny lot but then DG has a huge lot? Does the university decide what houses get what spot on Maple or is it who can afford a certain lot? I’m talking about the newer houses not the ones that have been here forever.

I heard that PhiMu had to share its lot so AXO could build a house too since they colonized together????

Not sure anyone here knows the history of the lot development or land acquisition. But who cares.? Both houses are beautiful!

DG has some powerful and wealthy alums that I’m sure helped them secure the prime location of their new home.

axo and phi mu had the option of DG’s lot but chose the spots they did so they would be closer to campus and face maple instead of being on arkansas avenue address like DG lot

The university has lots that they rent to Greek chapters. I’m fairly certain the chapter (house corporation) gets to choose the location from the available lots. Some spots are considered more prime locations due to being closer to the hub of campus, other houses, etc.
Like others said, DG’s strong alumnae group definitely helped them get such a spacious lot and get their house up so fast.
