houses that cut you

I literally had two houses left after first round. A top and bottom house. I kept them both right through pref and got my 1st choice but it was a super stressful week! I still couldn’t tell you why it happened other than the other houses just assumed I’d end up where I did so they cut me.

Just to prepare you, if you have an in house or recently graduated sister or a mom that’s a super active alum, or if you are enmeshed with a bunch of _____ fill in the blank whichever house girls and have pics of you on summer vacay with them or they attended your high school graduation then your chances of getting released early from other houses are definitely higher.
It’s not personal, but each house has to maximize their chances to have girls that will actually still be around come Bid day. We may love you, but know you will 98 percent chance pledge your mom’s house, so we will cut you early in order to not lose girls that may actually stick around until the end of the week.

I was legacy to a top tier house but got cut right before pref day. My mom was extremely hurt that her sorority did that but she said don’t quit, finish recruitment. I was scared because a lot of houses had cut me because of being a legacy. I’m thankful I didn’t quit. I love my sorority and my sisters.

That is the scariest thing I have ever read on this site. Why do you think they were so sure you were going to pledge that house? A legacy with a sister in that sorority?? I am a legacy for a top house but I hope to be given a shot at other houses. Actually felt a knot in my stomach when I read that. I am sorry you had to go through such a stressful week. I think my hair will fall out if my experience is the same.
