I heard since there is a new house coming that the top houses were only going to take around 60-70 girls instead of 100. I though AGD wasn’t coming?????

AGD is not coming and if they are they’ve done a really bad PR job. Top houses will take around 100 and bottom around 185. That’s if recruitment numbers stay same as years before.

Why? Does UARK use Variable Quota?

If you are asking, does UARK use variable quota, yes or no? The answer is yes. If you are asking why they still use it when no one else does,
that's the million dollar question....You will need to ask the alumnae and advisors, but I don't think they will answer.

It’s used because some houses have better retention rates than others. It doesn’t make sense for a house to take 180 girls if all of them will stay. That would be insane. It does make sense to take that many if lots of them leave.

All variable quota does is keep top houses more exclusive. If they have the same retention rates they shouldn’t be allowed to bid only 100 girls when lower houses have to take 180+. Don’t look for it to change soon. Too many influential alums. Ole Miss is the only other school still recruiting this way.

Ole Miss only started variable quota about two years ago to help newer/struggling chapters increase their numbers and take the strain off the chapters that were at 500+ members. I think they are still doing it, and are also adding a new sorority, so will probably keep it up until there is some kind of stable equity in membership sizes.

TriDelt ended up with about 130 and same with KD. I’m guessing Zeta took around 115. ADPi took closer to 145 and everyone else took around 150. I’m PRETTY sure. That’s from what I can tell. But generally the drop out rates end of with all houses having around 100 in each PC.

You have about an 18% chance of a top house.

When a new sorority comes onto a campus they don't do formal recruitment their first year anyway. They send representatives to just participate in the conversation round and give information on their colonization process. They would do events and interviews throughout the fall and spring to bid their founding member class. Then they would be ready to participate in their first formal recruitment.

A big factor is to support the amazing houses here. Other schools houses are not near as nice because they don't have the membership numbers to support. 400+ vs. 250-300
