Kappa and KD - went KD but love both houses. I felt at home with KD the 1st day. However both are great houses

This was the exact same situation for me. (I am not the original poster) TriDelt had a reputation among my older friends at Arkansas that I didn’t want to be a part of and that’s the reason I ended up prefing KD over TriDelt. And yes, I did come on this site and knew they were a “better” house. I also just felt more at home there. It makes sense. Just because you think it makes no sense because “every girl wants to be in a top house”, it’s not true. I went where I felt most at home and that was KD! I’m sure there were girls in my situation that prefed TriDelt but that wasn’t the place for me.

KD and Kappa. Preffed KD. Went KD. I am super happy. I knew it was right for me and it is. If you are making your decisions based on house ranks you are missing the point. Don’t let anyone tell you it doesn’t make sense to pref a “so called lower” house. If I had to do it again I would make the same decision

I am the original poster, and yes my answer does make sense. I felt way more at home at KD and have not once regretted my decision. I’m sure there are girls at Tri Delt who feel the same way. I have made lifelong friends and am so happy I went KD. Don’t ever belittle someone’s decision because sorority recruitment is tough enough as it is.

It doesn't make sense for someone to say they had two sororities at pref and "preffed" one of them. That's not what that means. Anyone who actually went through would know better.

Sure, the one you didn’t pick may not have picked you back, but you still selecting the one you like more. aka prefing. short for “prefer”. But maybe they got cut by that house that day, in that case they wouldn’t care because they liked whichever house they prefed more. And again it’s not even just about the “better” house, it’s about where you feel at home. Period. Anyone who actually went through would know better.

Yes it does make sense to say which house you preffed. Happens all the time when a first choice cuts you and you end up in the other house you had on Pref.

To "pref" a house or to have "preffed" a house does not mean that you preferred it over another, it means that you attended their pref. Also houses do not cut at pref, there is only bid matching. If you pref a house you are on the bid list somewhere.

Some houses may cut after pref- but you are cutting from your bid list.
If a PNM has 1 house left on pref day- she will receive a bid.
If 2 houses left- and she does not single house pref (suicide), then she will receive a bid from 1 of those 2 houses on her list.
Each house has different voting procedures and timelines throughout their recruitment.
