will this hurt me

by: PNM

So I’m coming here as a freshman, but I have enough credits from AP classes / college classes to graduate a year early. Will sororities look down on this or does it not matter to them?

Don’t mention it. You’ll be going through as a freshman and that’s what matters.

Won’t they see from the transcript? And don’t you include them on your sign up form?

Doesn’t matter. You’re still considered a freshman. Not uncommon for girls to graduate early

I was told on bid day of my top house that if I had 4 more credits I would’ve been classified as a sophomore and not taken. Short yourself a few if you're unsure about what AP credits you’ll take to be safe

That is a very strange bid day conversation.

Is there anyway they would even know? I’m not sure what is included when you sign up for recruitment...

make sure to tell them you’re a freshman, and don’t tell them you’re graduation early. Still say 2023 if it asks for your Grad year, plus you never know if you’ll end up staying anyway. Flex your AP credits cause they will believe you’ll bring up their GPA

When you sign up greek life gets your transcripts and double checks with the sorority’s what you reported was your gpa and stuff. If you have more than like 21 credit hours you will be automatically counted as a sophomore on your transcript. I think zeta is the only house who can’t take sophomores so if you want them make sure you let them know you are a freshman.

I’m a ZTA who rushed with 21+ credits coming in. They did not cut me

Hey everyone, I’m the OP, thanks for your answers. What I was wondering (can’t find this answer anywhere else) is if I can choose which AP credits and dual enrollment credits transfer even if I report all of them. Am I able to wait until later to apply these credits? Sorry, I know this is a weird place for these questions, but I’m not able to find this information anywhere else! I also don’t want to be cut by all of the sororities for being a “sophomore” even though I’m really not.

Do what is best for your education. If you have credits that will transfer please don't let them go to waste. Put your priorities in order.

I didn’t transfer my credits until second semester of my freshman year and i was still able to but I wish I would have done it sooner. You may not be able to take some classes because your transfer credits may count as prerequisites.

you worked hard for those credits - don’t throw them away!! it goes to reflect how hard you worked in high school and sororities will like that because you’ll help raise their GPA. when i filled out my form i made it really clear that i was a freshman, and i talked about that with every girl who rushed me. do that, and you should be fine! your credit should make you look more impressive/stand out

How do you even bring that up in a conversation?

the first day will be a lot of general questions, so you don’t have to explicitly say you’re a freshman but you can say stuff like “i’m so excited for the best 4 years!” or “i’m excited to live in a dorm this year!” and that will hint that you are. you can ask your gamma chi about it too and see what she suggests. no reason in wasting what you’ve earned though - use it to show off that you’re hard working and smart!
