happy with your house?
by: worried pnmI really really want a top house. I think I have the personality and looks (don’t want to be braggy) but my gpa is 3.2 and I have no real connections. For those of you who thought you would fit in a top house but ended up in a lower house did you regret accepting your bid? Did you wish you would have waited to try again the next year? Are you sad when you see the girls in your dorm in the house you wanted or do you get over it? I’m not wanting to name any house. I’m just trying to prepare myself in case I am disappointed with my house and want to know if that’s normal. TIA

Just like everyone wants to go to the top schools and drive the nicest car, they want to be in a top house and it’s really shallow. You’ve never even met the girls in any of them nor have you met the girls in “lower” houses. PNM’s, if you’re set on only one house or a top house, don’t bother going through recruitment. If you do be nice to everyone at every house despite if you want to be there or not because trust me the girl that gets stuck with you doesn’t want to be wasting her time with you.

I wanted a top house, I mean who doesn’t, but I got cut by all houses except two lower houses. I accepted a bid to the lower house and let me tell you best decision of my life. I have some of the greatest friends ever and I love everything about my house. All houses have some beautiful girls from top to the lowest. If your attitude is your too good for any house except the top 4 then you shouldn’t be doing rush.

hey girl. don't you worry!! i had a pretty low GPA going into recruitment and i was very worried about it, terrified actually. i went into the house i love being very honest. I told them that I knew I was a grade risk but I hoped so much that they would look past that and get to know me because I loved their house and I saw myself there so much. You just have to be completely honest and hope for the best. I actually ended up getting into a top house, and I am super grateful for it, but you do not have to be in a top house to be happy. please be careful during recruitment not to find your worth in what these girls think of you, you are so special and you will be so happy no matter where you are. do not listen to the negative !! you really do have to trust the process and you will find your people and feel right at home where you are placed. be so honest and just be honest with the houses that you feel at home in. don't go into recruitment with one house in mind, because if you do you will miss the beauty of the other houses, you might miss feeling at home somewhere else. recruitment is one of the most challenging weeks of your life, but everything will work out and it is SO WORTH IT!:)

Honestly I agree with the others. Might as well not go through. I can tell you even the “top tier” houses aren’t going to want a shallow girl. People like you are who make Greek life look so bad. Our head of Greek life has worked her butt off to weed people with this mindset out so take your high horse sitting butt to another campus please!

Do everyone a favor and drop on day 2 or 3 after cuts are made. Who needs this attitude in their chapter?
