Someone on one of the recent threads here wrote “If you're not a legacy you're not likely to get bids from any top tiers and you have slim chances on the middle tiers.”
Is this true? Obviously, being unconnected I won’t get bids from a top tier house. But I also don’t have a chance at DDD or KD? What about the rest of the houses? I don’t care much about tiers, I just want to know my options. Thanks much!

Realistically you, or one of your parents, needs to know someone who is either in the house or a somewhat connected alum from that house in order to get into probably the top 6 houses. There are always outliers with 32+ on the ACT and attractive looks that can go into recruitment blind and come out with a top house. Consider it to be like a job you really want. Network and find connections so you are not just an unknown face out of 2000 people.

Hey! I went through with NO legacy or close connections. Knew literally one girl in a top house. Got all my tops back every day and preffed two top houses and ended up with my first choice. Knew absolutely no one on my pc. I couldn’t be happier! So, it can happen! Now I did have great grades, was very involved in hs, can hold a conversation and considered attractive. But don’t let these posts scare you that you can’t get a top house because you absolutely can! Can’t wait to see you this Fall!

The reason the mid tier houses are so great is because they are filled with out of state girls or even in state girls who had NO CONNECTIONS Don't worry. I came here from out of state, knew no one. And I mean NO ONE! (I am in one of those two you mention) I don't know why people are on this site trying to scare PNM's. Is it competetive? Yes but if you come prepared for that, with an open mind, truly there is a place for most everyone.

Agree with this. Top houses are great but mid tier houses are full of girls of the same quality with less connections. Connections don’t make the quality of the girl better. All mid and top tier houses are fantastic. Go where you feel at home; if a house cuts you, you didn’t want to be there anyway.
