must instagram be public?
by: safety first
I'm a mom (sorry, I'm not trolling) who has an oos PNM attending Arkansas in the fall and wanting to participate in recruitment. As a mom I worry that social media can attract creepy people/stalkers and don't encourage anyone, especially my daughter, to have her social media be public/open. How badly will she be hurt during recruitment if it remains private? Is there a compromise such as allowing Panhellenic access and they in turn allow the chapters access to her account?
Thank you in advance!

surely you are a troll and not really an overbearing mom? if this is legit then yes it should be public until after recruitment. not sure what’s on her social media that would attract creepy people/ stalkers. but if creepy people/ stalkers are attracted to what she’s posting then houses probably won’t be.

It's not required but definitely encouraged! Girls in house will show her instagram to sisters and if they can't scroll, they may lose interest in her. Also, if she's old enough to be going through rush, it should probably be her choice on if her account is private or public.

That is a dramatic assumption about the poster and the kid. I have to say that creepy people and stalkers tend to be attracted to some of the nicest people. People who are inexperienced enough in life that they don't suspect the worst in others are actually the most vulnerable.
