does age matter?

Hey, I am going to UARK this fall from far out of state and am really looking forward to rush, however I will be 22 years old by the time of recruitment, and was wondering if this would affect me drastically, I am coming as a new freshman, so would sororities care too much about that? Also would they even know, in my friends app for another southern school they don’t ask you your birthday only what class you are, do you guys know if that’s the case for Arkansas? Thank you!

I don’t know honestly since most older girls are transfer or upperclassmen, if you’re a incoming freshman I guess it wouldn’t make a difference unless you’re like 25...

Not really sure at all, I don’t think I even know any girl older then 19 that’s rushing as a new freshman, don’t really remember if they ask your age on the registration form

I think it depends if they like you or not, some sororities wouldn’t like it, but I guess some would love having a pledge that is more mature

They will know your age when they see what year you graduated high school on your resume. I would also think you wouldn't want to be in a pledge class with 18 year olds when you are 22. You will be highly annoyed by them, I am sure.

I don’t think I would mind being with younger girls, especially because I really want to be in a sorority and that’s the only way! Do you think that would lower my chances significantly?

I think they’ll know it, I am 21 and a junior in UARK and honestly don’t feel annoyed by the younger girls, but it really depends on who you are!

I think it will depend a lot on what you did after hs graduation,if you just got a mediocre job somewhere for 2,3 years it’ll probably look bad and you’ll won’t get in any top or upper middle top even if you’re beautiful and have amazing grates etc... that being said if you spent the last years travelling or doing volunteering work it’ll probably look good and even out!

Agree with this, but sororities here are pick especially the middle and the upper mid and top ones, so to have the same chances as if you were 18 you’ll have to have done something extraordinarily this past 3 years!
