what makes a top house
by: PnmCould someone please explain what makes ChiO and Kappa the top houses and what they look for in a pnm? No rude comments please just honest advice.

Say each house takes average 100 girls:
50-75 bids go to pnms with in house sisters or strong CHAPTER legacies (esp with ChiO chapter legacies)
25-50 bids will go to pnms who have best or super close friends already in house
EVERY member has pnms they just absolutely have to have. Some girls have three or four girls! More than enough to fill several PCs. Trust me when I say some random girl no matter how amazing you are isn’t getting a bid over their friends from camp or hs that they’ve known forever. There’s just no room for you!

this rumor starts every year to discredit ChiO and Kappa. Pnms it IS possible to get a bid with no connections. You just need everything else going for you like very very good grades, leadership position in clubs not just membership, cute appearance and great convo skills.

sadly this is so unbelievably true. i don’t know a chio that isn’t an arkansas legacy or has a best friend in house and i’m friends with a lot of them! it’s a well known fact here so i’m not sure why the person above me is saying it’s a rumor even my chio/kappa friends know it haha

98% have some kind of in house connection (sisters, friends, influential chapter alums). Don’t go through recruitment hoping to be in that 2%.

It is next to impossible to get into a top house here without connections. Anyone saying anything different is not telling the truth. I had all the creds, social, etc. needed for top house but I'm from oos and did not know one person at UARK. I was cut the first day by top three houses. The odds of winning the lottery are greater. It ended up being a blessing! I'm totally happy where I landed.

So called Top Houses are starting to suffer due to this connection requirement. Having a connection doesn’t make you a most desirable PNM. This is the reason you will find top girls in any given house on campus. Remember this all future PNMs and go where you fell most comfortable. Once pledged most don’t really care about ranks

Kappas generally are rich af - true! But the PW had several UARK Kappas as interns over the summer plus the girl had family members who were UARK Kappas so she had some strong connections going on. Plus she’s as cute as can be, great grades and leadership and super sweet so she would have been just fine getting a bid on her own!

2000 pnms
They cut 1600 first day
Of the 400 left 150 are legacies from other schools who because of nationals get a courtesy invite to second round but they have no intention of giving a bid
Only 250 girls left after second round
Compare this to DG who make no first day cuts.

Don’t see a lot of reasons to be full of pride bc of cuts.
There are many many quality pnms who go thru recruitment.

dg cuts on the first day just as every other house does. every sorority is required to make a certain amount of cuts during each round, while they don’t cut 1000 or so the first day, they definitely cut at least a few hundred. I think they generally cut the girls that are rude and/or obviously disinterested bc they are a legacy to another house. They just go after different girls!!
