involvement in high school?
by: pnm
What does it mean on here when people say a house likes girls who were involved in high school? Do 1-2 extracurriculars count as being involved or do you need to be in a lot more? what extracurriculars are best, or does that not matter?
thanks!

im gonna be totally and brutally honest and tell you please please please don’t add extra activities to your resume hoping to get you a bid. kappa and chio are next to impossible to get a bid without connections. and no your mom or sister from another school don’t count for anything other then an invite back after first day. please trust me on this. the extracurriculars they want are ones you can’t just add. they don’t even count activities anyone can sign up for - think youth group, etc and tbh really only care about an activity you are in IF you were an elected officer. so think president of senior class, cheer captain, dance captain, volleyball captain. they really don’t even count cheer or dance because everyone was one. so please don’t add newspaper unless it is something you are interested in. be yourself and trust the system. the house that you get a bid from will see something special in you not if you had five instead four activities listed. you sound like a great pnm and there will be a house for you if you just be yourself and don’t stress about your activities.

if you don't have any connections to this school you need to make them now before spring break. after spring break, active members are not allowed to talk to PNMs. my advice is to maybe follow a few girls soon from a couple sororities (maybe pi phi and zeta) and make sure uark 23 in your bio. let the girls see you before and maybe they'll recognize you during rush or request to talk to you. having a small little connection like that is better than having none.

Ok... I am in two honor societies (well one of them I was only in for a couple years), I do stuff for school productions (behind the scenes), and I started a philanthropy club. I don’t do sports or student council. I’m considering participating in one or two more small extracurriculars (think newspaper) and I also have a job... Is that okay? Or will that not be enough for most sororities? I really want to make sure I don’t close any doors before I even get here!
