intensity of rush?

Girls from all over come here and rush, While many of the so called top houses take recommendations very seriously as well as connections. It really is starting to hurt them. There are houses that don't take Rec's quite so literally. Just ask around you might be surprised how many people you know or even kind of know that were in a sorority. They can be an alum from any chapter in the country. There are usually over 1500 girls that go thru recruitment each fall and they are not all connected Arkansas girls by a long shot. You'll be fine

why are you coming here from the north?

If it makes you feel any better, I didn't have many rec letters, and the sorority I got is considered a top. I had no rec letters for my sorority and knew no one in house. Just be confident in yourself and you'll do fine!! A lot of great sororities will take you without connections or certain rec letters but I recommend you start trying to email different alumni chapters for recs. I'm sure they would love to write you one.

Try asking some of your teachers- parents of your friends. Does your area have a local Panhellenic? They usually hold informational meetings in the spring. Once you start looking- you’ll be surprised how many you can find.

Rush is brutal if you come in expecting a certain house. Over 1700 girls started rush, fall of 2018, over 1500 got a house. The rest broke rush. Greek life is what you make it. With 400-500 women in each house it is impossible to have a relationship with everyone in your house. You'll find your place in what ever house you get. Be yourself. Just remember when a house cuts you, you probably didn't want to hangout with them anyway.
