bids
by: oosHow hard is it to get a bid to a top or middle tier sorority when you’re from far oos?

If you have good grades and activities you should have no problem with a middle tier. The reality is that most of the good girls end up in these houses anyway because didn't already know some one in Kappa or Chi O and the only one saying Kappa and Chi O are the only top houses are Kappas and Chi Os

Unless you are a celebrity or politician's daughter, you will not get bid from Kappa or Chi O, these "old school" houses are primarily reserved for 50+ years of ARK legacy girls or big ARK money girls. What's funny is quality is slipping in these "top" houses due to this practice. Don't worry, Mid-Top and Mid houses are all great and with good grades and involvement, they will want you!

Ark ChiO alumni control their recruitment making it very very hard to get a bid without connections. That’s why you see Texas and other state ChiO
legacies not carrying that much weight. Kappa is more welcoming to nonlegacies but you better have a top resume and grades. Having money helps too as they heavily zip code. Both houses have already started a bid list for next year.

Connections are more important than the fact you are far OOS. I would probably not count on a bid from ChiO or Kappa because of this. For PiPhi and Zeta you would need a really really impressive resume and recs. For a mid tier sorority it just depends on your resume and how well you present yourself during recruitment. All houses here have so much to offer not just top or mid tier ones. So be open to the houses as much as you want them to be open to you.

by: look at it this way
30 sitting sisters
150 chapter legacies
200 nonchapter legacies
300 actives all have at least one friend they have to have = 300
50 influential alums with a close friend’s daughter = 50
There is obviously some overlap but if there is only 100 bids to give out then that doesn’t leave much room for those without connections.
