fraternity formal rush advice

If you're going through rush and you are nervous enough to read this post here's some advice.

1. Introduce yourself to the rush chairs in each house and try to have a conversation that isn't "What do you like about your fraternity, or where you went to high school" Be different but don't be weird.

Members at formal rush that are sober will be the ones helping with cuts afterwards. Talk to them.

2. Don't tell anyone your top houses, just tell every house you thought their speech was one of the best of the day/ you like the guys and you hope to be invited back for next round. "We like him but he's going fraternity X, is common conversation had in the cut room"

3. There's plenty of guys that have gotten bids to top houses that didn't do any pre-rush.
"I like everyone I've met here, but haven't done much pre-rush at all" is a great thing to tell a rush chair if true.
