quit being mean
by: sadI’m one of those girls you keep making fun of. Guess what? My friend got her legacy top house and I ended up in a bottom house so it’s hard enough already trying to act happy for her while I’m miserable. A “pledge sister” told me on bid day we were the misfits and Panhellenic made the house take the leftovers. An active told me everyone thought they were awkward but that was going to change. Not the way I dreamed of starting Greek life. Half are happy anyone took them and the other half are sad/mad they got cut by other houses. Not a good way to start a sisterhood. My friend has made friends with her pledge class and she has actives call her and her new sisters and invite them places. Meanwhile I’m stuck with the “misfits” of Greek life trying to make the best of it. I’ve met a few girls but I couldn’t see myself hanging out with them if we weren’t in the same sorority. I don’t even know why I’m posting this other than people need to realize there are real girls out there trying to make the best of things.

Reach out to you pledge class. Those are your people.
To the active who told you that- you deserve it if any pledges choose to drop!!
To the pledge sister who told you that— horrible. Horrible attitude.
Find your fellow pledges... sisterhood is what you make it.
Unreal.

#4by: half
The half that are upset and trying to make the best of it. Get it together!!! That would mean that YOU have at least 75 girls YOU can connect with. Make friends within that group. This is your sisterhood and you 75 plus girls Can go out and make your letters great. Please don't discount the rest of those girls you say are misfits. They want the same as you friends, sisters, date parties, mixers and a college education. All of you have been thrown into adulthood and are on your own. Go to you first chapter meeting and start being a leader. Wear your letters and be proud because you are what you make of it.
#5by: Newer chapters building
and girls who maximized their bid options had the benefit of Panhellenic working very diligently on their behalf. Across MOST chapters.
There is no shame in a new chapter building.
And it takes a few cycles to help balance the older actives who helped establish their chapter (and worked so hard, by the way) as they graduate.
This recruitment was so positive, please do not let someone who has a limited view of what truly is the situation paint such a negative picture for YOU. Your pledge class is wonderful.

There are awkward girls in the “top” houses and cute, fun, intelligent, and awesome girls in “bottom” houses. Maybe because they got cut from tops, but maybe because they just liked the feel of that house better. You’ll find people, I promise. Also, don’t be afraid to make friends with your friend’s friends in the top house. You don’t have to stick to just your sorority.
