when do they drop legacies?

by:

I've heard lots of different answers regarding how long a group must keep a legacy. Most drop after round one so theres no confusion. But at what point do most keep their legacies. If I made it to third round, is that a good sign?

That’s private membership selection info for each house. There isn’t one standard legacy policy.

If you make it to Pref with your legacy, you have a very good chance of getting a bid if you rank them #1 as most (but not all) require legacies to be placed at the top of the first bid list.

My bestfriend was a legacy of chi o and preffed them but didn’t get them, you are never promised with legacies

Legacy for most only needs to keep you for first round. After that it is up to the girls and you to see if connect with them. With so many legacy going through they can not take All especial the more popular house on campus.

Absolutely not true. Chi O nationals have a policy regarding legacies being taken into pref.
Stop spreading rumors about something you are not even a part of.

Hypothetically speaking, if Chi Os have 250 Chi O legacy pnms beginning a recruitment cycle and are allowed only 130 bid day invites, a minimum of 120 Chi O legacies will be required to be released by pref invites. The release of so many pnms (XO legacy or no) is due to their very strong "first chapter of Chi O" popularity, folks, nothing more.

All of that depends solely on what sorority you are a legacy for - tbh some chapters don’t care about legacies much anymore so font rely on that but on your own character to get you into a house

Most the time nothing to do with character but if you talked to someone’s boyfriend 5 years ago. Shout out to all those jealous girls tell your mom she extra in the bad mom department.

I’m a legacy to a bottom house I don’t want. I keep ranking them last but since I don’t have a full schedule they are still on my list. I’m scared it will be the house i end up with at the end.

To "Opposite Problem": Please remember that there are no real "rankings", only newer chapters getting established, but at UARK, all 11 sororities are good! There are 400 girls in each Chapter and you will find your "people" wherever you end up. You'd be lucky if it was your legacy house to carry on your family tradition, but if you are really going to be shallow and conceited thinking you are better than them, drop out, they don't need sullen girls with bad attitudes, they have plenty of positive girls who want to be there where they are actually wanted.

Most houses invite legacies back to at least the 2nd round (but there are always exceptions to this rule). However, from my experience, we went through every legacy on house tour to make sure we only carried the ones we truly wanted into pred bc we generally didn’t cut legacies on pref night (again there might be an exception). House tour was our biggest day to cut legacies generally.

literally every chapter is different on when they have to cut, where they are placed on the bid list and why....

If you really want to know about your specific legacy house ask you mom/sister/grandma that was in the house what the policy is and they might tell you.

And thie rule for each house can be broken if you dont present well on pref night. It might require a conversation with Alums Club/Nationals but it can happen. Dont have an attitude and keep being the gracious PNM you have been all week.

Does anyone know the KKG legacy cut process? I met a girl that I was sure would get a legacy bid (multiple sisters are Kappa) and they cut her! Why would they do this, is it a normal practice for this sorority? It appears to me that they are not loyal to their own sisterhood!

only Kappas would know KKG's specific legacy cut process, so no one on here is going to disclose it. Obviously you weren't rushing this girl or with her during each conversation so there's no way to know whether she would connect with them. Kappas are loyal to their own sisterhood, but this PNM is not their sister, she's a PNM. They have no loyalty to her more than anyone else. Even if this PNM's bio sisters were to call the chapter and ask why their sister had been released, they likely wouldn't have told the specific reasons because you have to trust that the actives know what's best for their chapter. The only thing the sisters can hope for is a courtesy phone call to let them know that they have released the legacy.

If the sister was not well liked or caused some problems when she was in house then unfortunately the pnm will pay the price. The pnm probably had no idea about her sister so of course she was surprised. When houses have to make so many cuts they won’t take even the smallest chance on a pnm that could hurt their rep.
