house cuts
by: confused pnmDoes ChiO and Kappa really cut 1000 pnms first day? Is this a number they pick or does Panhellenic tell them? How many pnms do other houses cut first day? I get that the number of bids is divided by the pnms left and the number of houses. I’m just confused as to how they know how many to cut each day. I’ve also heard lower houses don’t cut anyone because they have to take who’s left. If there is no such thing as tiers then how does ChiO cut 1000 and then AChiO cut no one? What about houses like KD or ADPi that aren’t top or bottom? How do they know? Not trying to start anything just curious about the rationale behind cuts every day especially first day.

Membership selection is private. If your fav house cuts you then find a new fav. If a house offers you a bid it means they see you as a sister. There are no pity bids. Trust the process. Sophs rerushing will 99% of the time end up with the same houses they had fresh year. The houses you want have a once cut always cut rule so waiting another year won’t help. Ark recruitment is competitive. Be grateful for any bid you get!

Yes, each house has to cut a certain number each round based on a combo of the past few years of statistical data and current recruitment numbers. All those pnm's would be cut anyway but doing it earlier rather than later allows pnm's to move on and find their homes. It's better than leading on a majority of pnm's by having them come back for three rounds and then cutting huge numbers. Release Figure Management.

I can't release too many details but I know for a fact that zeta, kappa, pi phi and chi o all cut first round girls with a 3.4 or below or if they're sophomores. I am in one of those houses and there are no exceptions to that rule for us. based on that plus conversations the first day and knowing girls personally, we end up cutting about that amount after first round. we have to let a lot of great girls go so don't take it personally

Top houses have taken sophs before but they were transfers with very high gpas who had never gone through recruitment and had very very very close friends in house. If you went through last year and a top house cut you then you will be cut again. No exceptions. If your friends in house are telling you different then they are probably sophomores who have never been on the recruitment side before.

ChiO - falling - forced to take too many legacies because of pushy alums sending top girls to other houses
Kappa - same - continues to be able to pref almost anyone they want
PiPhi - same - still get the top pnms who don’t go top two
Zeta - rising - 1700 pnms means lots of top girls will end up in Zeta
TriDelt- falling -their own worst enemy with legacies preffing other houses
KD - falling - no house and a mediocre rep will mean most pnms will go elsewhere
PhiMu - rising - new house and more selective recruitment will put them above KD
AOPi - same - a safety house for pnms who still won’t take a chance on a lower tier house
DG - rising - even with no house still predict a better recruitment than ADPi or AChiO
AChiO- rising - more pnms will take a chance due to their new house
ADPi - falling - never did much to try to distinguish themselves and their old house will only hurt them with pnms wanting new

I know a sophomore that is going through and trying for the same house again. All her friends in that house seem confident she will get a bid. How can that happen with the once cut rule?
Was she warned or told in the middle of rush last year as a courtesy to drop out of rush because she was going to be cut? So she dropped out to avoid being cut so she could do it again this year. Help? Help?
