leadership

by:

I see "leadership" mentioned a lot, but no one ever explains what "leadership" on their resume actually means. Like leading in volunteer/charity work, being captain of a team, being pres of senior class, being hc queen, starting a club, starting a charity??? What type of "leadership" is everyone talking about. TIA

All of those are examples of leadership houses are looking for. Anything that shows you are actively involved and didn’t just sign up for a bunch of random clubs to put on your resume.

We are looking for pnms that stand out in a positive way. Leadership tells us you can work as a team. These things make you memorable when we are going through our lists. HC Queen isn’t necessarily leadership and a lot of girls were HC Queens but I would still list it on my resume just don’t bring it up in a convo.

while we are on convos please don’t be the pnm who keeps bringing up cheer. we get it. you were a cheerleader. we all were. no one cares. we don’t even count it as an activity when ranking pnms.

Does it hurt us if we weren't a cheerleader or hc queen? I was involved in a competitive year round sport for 8 years.

Houses advertise that they have beauty contest winners but if you are a pnm do not bring up you were homecoming queen or a cheerleader? These rules are super confusing. So we do or do not bring up the non important superficial stuff.

If you have no substance and your only redeeming "quality" was being a cheerleader or hc queen in hs then yeah, sure, bring it up. It will help us weed out those who are nothing more than superficial and only care about looks/popularity in a house.

ignore these comments. please just come through recruitment and be yourself. don’t over analyze what you should or shouldn’t say. all houses have something great to offer so trust the system you will end up where you are meant to be.

I cheered and it never came up in any of the convos during recruitment. Houses are more alike than pnms realize.

we have plenty of cheerleaders in my house that love to talk to girls about cheer because it is something fun that you have in common, and if you have a really good conversation about cheer then they will remember you. Don't worry about not talking about things and only talking about certain things to try to impress us. If the conversation goes there, let it. It will be so much better than a boring conversation about something else I promise.
