Alums and actives are meeting in their hometowns all summer to discuss.

the active over your hometown goes through all the packets this summer. she will pay close attention to girls she knows or ones other actives or alums have told her they want. this is how you become a top. she may also have friends in other houses or schools who tell her about who they recommend. this is why connections matter. if she doesn't like you then you are off the list. if you look like a pnm that would be a good fit but doesn't know you she will try to find someone from your school who knows you or about you. these actives are chosen to be over their hometowns because they have lots of connections. so unless you live under a rock she can usually find someone. if your gpa is under 3.35 and an active or alum hasn't spoken up for you then you are off the list. this is where it's partly a numbers game. during work week all the actives who are over their hometowns bring their narrowed down list for everyone to start reviewing. so actives never even really look at those that aren't on a hometown list. if you can try to find out who is over your hometown and have someone put in a good word for you.

how do we find out who is over our hometown for houses we are interested in?

hypothetically, if i have a 3.32 and have a good resume and some girls speak up for me, does that boost my chances?
