for all the girls rushing fall 2018
by: hey
for most people that go through recruitment, rush week is one of the most draining, heartbreaking, confusing weeks. for some, it is a lot easier. those are the girls that either don't care what house they get or they already know for sure what house they're going to get (aka they have an in house sister or
tons of strong connections). although nothing is guaranteed
you will have awesome conversations with girls you feel like you clicked so well with and then be cut the next day and be so down on yourself and confused. you felt like that house was the one for you.
this happened to 90% of girls I talked to throughout the week. you are going to feel hurt and angry and you're going to want to know why.
the truth is there's not an easy answer. it is based on a million different things. top houses "top" girls they've known about for MONTHS. it is so hard to make it up there without connections.
MY BIGGEST ADVICE: DON'T DROP DURING RECRUITMENT. even if you get cut by all the "top houses" first round, there are SO many other girls that are just like you that could be your next best friend that are heartbroken too and will end up in the same house as you at the end. you would probably never get to meet them if you drop. give it time, you will find people in your situation and girls you can click with.
some girls will be left on pref with a house they love and a house they can't see themselves in at all. I knew so many girls that preffed their favorite house over the other and were shocked and heartbroken when their bid card said the other house's name. but trust me, you are not the only one this happened to.
that one week is a wonderful opportunity to meet new people. you're going to be excited and nervous. your gamma chi group automatically gives you new friends. take advantage of every chance you get to befriend girls. be nice to everyone you meet. i'm still good friends and see so many girls on campus and at parties that I met during that week.
be yourself. look presentable. we can tell if you're trying too hard. we get you're nervous, we are too. breathe and relax. it will work out

Great advice. The best thing to keep in mind the entire week is that the houses are so large that you will find your people no matter which house you pledge. Every single house has girls that live for the library or the frat house. Every single house has party girls and bible study girls. Every single house has beauty queens and athletes.
