rushing
by: out of stateHey! So I'm super nervous and excited to be in Fay next fall and rushing has always been something I've wanted to do. I live out of state and I've heard to get into top houses you need super strong in-house connections but I have 0. My GPA is high, and I would have great letters of rec. But if anyone has any tips on getting in that would be great!!!

Do your best to have memorable conversations and ask good questions. Show your excitement about going through recruitment! The members will appreciate you being able to tell stories, ask original questions, and show your personality. This applies to all chapters, not just the top ones.
Try not to be discouraged if the houses you thought you liked best release you- the members in house know better than you if you would fit in well! Please remember that the goal of recruitment is to find the house that you will fit in the best, not just to get into a top house.

If you don't get a "top" house bid .. in what you perceive as a "top house" ... you will be happy. There is SO much more to sisterhood and sorority and greek life at the U of A than what you think is a "top house". ALL the sororities and fraternities at the U of A are good and FULL of amazing, smart, cool leaders. IF you have no connections, you are gong to be cut left and right. But trust the system ... all the sororities are great. And if you can't see that during rush than, you don't belong in any of them.

This whole "connections" thing is so stupid. I'm in a top house, and we take girls based on many factors. Knowing someone helps but you
don't get invited back just b/c you know someone, and you don't get cut just b/c you don't. There are girls in ALL chapters who came into recruitment knowing no one (yes, even XO and Kappa gasp)! People like to try and make their sorority sound so "exclusive" but honestly, you will end up where you belong.
