does it help or hurt to be a legacy

by: PNM18

I am a x4 legacy of a sorority. while I would really like to be a member of that one, I plan to keep an open mind during rush. When I fill out the panhellenic form should I include that I'm a legacy? Will it hurt my chances at other sororities? Will it help my chances of getting in the one I want?

I was DDD legacy but wanted another house. You really need to have your mind made up before you start rush. I made cuts early so I could be in the house I wanted.
Good luck!

Houses cut; PNM's do not cut, they rank. And unlike most other sororities, DDD doesn't have a national legacy policy. You didn't have as much control as you think you did.

I basically did the same thing. If you keep ranking your legacy house last more than likely you'll be gone by the second round.

I would definitely include your legacy house on your form if it's a house you are interested in. Are you a chapter legacy? That's really all that matters to my house.

You should let your legacy house know that you are coming through and that's it. Sometimes it can hurt you with other houses because they might assume you will go with your legacy house, especially with so strong a connection. You don't need to put it on your form for all to see.

Your hometown girls will know if you are a legacy bc everybody and their mama will be telling them. They will spread the word so you might as well put it on the form.
