-- how important are recs?
-- gpa/act?
-- for top houses like Chio, Kappa, Pi Phi, and Zeta, KD-- how picky are they? and about What? how Far does connections and recs get you with these houses?

im a member of one of the houses you listed above and as long as you have at least 2 recs you're fine. your gpa must be at least a 3.4 for us to even consider you. ACT doesn't really matter. anything above a 24 ACT is fine. all of those houses are extremely picky except for KD. we care about your rep, gpa, appearance (yes its true), and if you have any connections to the members. if you have bad blood with a member or we hear negative things about you from people who know you, you're going to be cut first day

AT LEAST get 1 rec. That is the easiest thing for houses to cut for first round. And try to have it from someone who knows you well and can speak to your character.
ACT isn't really looked at but GPA is important. The higher the better but other factors for sure play into just how much your GPA matters. It all depends on the person, the situation, the house, and the year (different houses are looking for different things different years based on the qualities they lost in the senior pledge class).
Every house is picky about different things. And as far as connections, they are very very helpful but they also are never a guarantee. But it is always good to have people on the inside fighting for you and making sure people know about you. With rush, everything is on an individual basis. Everything is up in the air and it all depends. Your resume and personality may be exactly what ABC is looking for but not what XYZ is looking for that year. Just be yourself and do what you can to put your best foot forward and thats all you can do

Sororities will usually begin cutting girls below a 3.4 gpa. My best recommendation to someone rushing is to get to know someone who is in a house you want to rush, maybe someone from your high school, because the easiest and most sure way to get into a house is to have a girl from inside really rush you hard. Even if you don't know this girl very well, I'm sure she is looking to rush someone she knows even the smallest bit. You need to sell yourself to this girl and before May 4th because after that is when greek girls are not allowed to talk to potential new members.
During rush everyone is obsessed with "top houses" but all the houses at Arkansas are phenomenal. There are of course going to be wild girls in each house...but being a "top house" basically just means it is the most established, has been there the longest, has a influential presence on campus, usually has a good gpa etc. At the end of the day really no one cares. All Greek life is pretty much the same. Join one with a philanthropy you can get behind because that is how you will stay involved.

KD and Zeta are both top houses - and grades matter to all the sororities. PMNs please look at the University of Arkansas website and look for the academic sorority grade report for Fall 2017. All of the grades for the top houses are over 3.4 and they are all with in 1 point of each other. It is very competitive and it is the main reason why we are in school - so don't buy that you don't need a rec or grades are only important to some houses. It matters to them all.
