rec letters

I'm going to be a freshman rushing this coming fall. Are letters of recommendation required for rush? Do they help? Could I still get a bid from a top house without a rec letter?

It is highly encouraged to have at least one rec letter per chapter. However, most people have more than one per house. They do help - especially if a house is unsure, they can help play a role in their decision. They normally won't make or break a recruitment but my opinion is that you may as well get as many as possible to be safe. They may help alittle but dont get strung up on them. Unless you are dead set on being in a "top house" (which you should go through recruitment before you make up your mind)then rec letters would help otherwise its just something extra
