sad to be a xyz
by: SadAll my friends ended up in top houses and I got a lower house. Everyone who meets me can't believe I'm an xyz and tells me I must have been accidently cross cut. I've tried making friends with my pledge class but they all seem so awkward. On Saturday I hung out with my friends and their new pledge sisters. It was so much fun! It made me sad for what I'm missing. Should I drop or how long should I keep trying?

I would give it a little longer. Once you start to really meet everyone you might really like it! I remember thinking some people were awkward and I didn't like them and now I'm friends with them (I know, I feel terrible for ever thinking it). I would give it a little longer and see how you like the sisterhood events and functions. If you still don't like it, drop before initiation.

Hi! Just want you to know that I think most girls feel this way their first semester of college. It's especially hard if you end up in a house where you don't know many people, but you can definitely look at that as an opportunity to become close with people outside of your hometown friends. I thought the same thing about some of the girls in my pledge class, but I stuck with it and I found my people. I definitely recommend giving it at least the semester. Best of luck!

I was chapter legacy to a top house cut right before pref and ended up with my second choice on bid day which was a lower tier house. A super sweet girl on my floor was a chapter legacy and had an in house sister at a top house and was cut right before pref. She dropped out entirely. It happens. We might have had other choices if our legacy houses had cut us sooner.
