other options

I was left with two houses on pref that I honestly couldn't picture myself in so I ended up releasing myself from recruitment altogether today. It really wasn't how I wanted things to go but I didn't want to end up in a house that I wouldn't feel at home. Do I have any other options (snap bids, COB)?

There is a spot for 99% of the PNMs who went through recruitment. Of course, there is the occasional PNM who thought no one would know about her DUI or nudies or she thought her 2.8 from Tiny Town High School would be acceptable because she is so darn cute who get cut completely.

However, for the rest of you, there is a place. IF you are not willing to accept a bid from a sorority just because older friends from drill team, cheer, NHS, whatever pledged somewhere else, it is hard to feel sorry for you when you say, "I just did not feel at home there." There are 400 girls in almost every group. If you can't find 20 great friends in here, look in the mirror and ask yourself, "why not?"

I know almost every one of you went through hoping to be XO, PiPhi, KKG or DDD. Believe me, I know. I heard it every day. Give the girls who see something in you a chance. Not everyone can be in a 100+ year old house; there simply is not enough room. Every house has great women who would be a great sister. Go with it. Take a chance.

This is so SPOT on! Girls need to realize that ALL the sororities at the UARK are ALL GOOD!
So sad to hear thet girls would drop before Pref. Total shame.

This is the truth...some girls just don't want to hear it. PNM's need to also realize that going through rush sophmore year is even more brutal and those chapters that didn't pick you this year WILL NOT PICK YOU NEXT year either. Those girls will be getting to know each other, not outsiders...for the most part so you aren't going to end up best friends with enough girls to carry you. There is always the one off but the majority are not. The PNM's need to realize that here at Arkansas all the chapters are great and there are amazing women in ALL houses. They ALL cut girls because they have too and some have to cut more because before getting to know anyone at Arkansas PNM's have heard through the grapevine that one chapter or another is the best and because they want to be in the best they think they belong there. There was probably a chapter that really wanted you and now you will have to settle for a chance at a COB in which will most likely be after all the great activities that begins the new members experience...such as Freshman pep rally in which all the new members are completely dressed in their new letters.
I wish all of you that dropped good luck, maybe you will find a place in what you consider to be a top house but don't count on it if they cut you in formal recruitment. As my mom told me..."These are life lessons. Why would you settle for a house that cut you, choose to be a part of a sisterhood that wanted you!"

"I don't feel at home there," is code for I am too shallow and insecure to deviate from anything that I did not envision for myself. Get some confidence and branch out or don't be Greek at all.

Your choice. You can be a crybaby or you can be adventurous and join a group that sees something special in you.

It's a shame to drop before bid day. You could have met some of your future best friends today, but you chose to be unaffiliated rather than accept a bid from women who were welcoming you with open arms. "Didn't feel at home" translates to "wasn't a top house". Sad

if a house dropped you during primary recruitment then it is unlikely that they would take you during COB (if they even had it)
your best bet is probably to wait for Alpha Gamma Delta to begin recruitment in the fall of 2018 and try them out.
