I have heard of several girls who were surprised on bid day to find out they weren't going to be Chi Omegas or PiPhis but instead Tri Deltas. How do you avoid getting your last choice back on pref night when you know a house isn't the right fit for you? Is there a way to avoid going to a certain house on pref?

Any girl would be lucky to end up in ANY house here. If you don't want to be in a house, don't put them on your pref card. You may end up GDI, but at least a deserving girl gets her chance to be in a great house.
Better yet, when you are at a party, tell them you Have NO interest in being an ABC. Don't waste their time.

That is actually very good advice. This happened to me last year. I'm sitting in a house that I knew from the start was not for me. After observing how they treat one another and others over the last two weeks I realize this is not for me. I should have not accepted the bid.

If you are in a house with a few hundred people and you can't find a few people that you can get along with, that says more about you than them. There are certainly good, kind people that you could be friends with. Find them and get active and you can make your way and leave a legacy of change and friendship.

If they are here, sadly I haven't found them. It could be due to the 40 mean girls taking over the entire room that they silence the ones that do not want to participate in what they are doing. Maybe they are sitting in silence as I am and in shock of what they are witnessing. I'm in shock that I actually received a bid. I'm starting to believe it was a mistake.

Should we be spending hours on who dated a guy 3 years ago that you like now? I think not. Or which pnm already has a bf at the U of A? Again, I think not. Where do they find these girls? The younger girl that was better than you in cheer, basketball or volleyball is still better than you, grow up. You truly do not know a thing about a house until you are on the other side of that door during recruitment.

Hmmm, clearly we are not in the same house because we do not spend hours listening to someone go on and on about PNMs. Heck, we don't even spend 5 minutes because someone dated your ex and "OMG, how dare he move on" is not a reason to exclude a woman from sisterhood. You do need to find some folks in your group - and there must be some - who want to make it better. They are there. Look around. You will recognize the eyerolls and the disbelief.

If you are going through recruitment and you are at a party where you know you don't want to be apart of that house then you should still be nice and have a nice conversation! don't act rude and hope that they will cut you. Just simply tell them that you like another sorority. Either way we will all be Panhellenic sisters so stay kind!

If you are at our house and don't want to be or we are your backup plan, please say so. We would much rather have a sister who REALLY WANTS TO BE HERE, rather than someone who is settling for us. We only have so many spots and want to give them to girls who truly want to be our sisters.

If you have any combination of those 3 houses left at the end of the week, you will have had a very successful week and should be so grateful. All 3 of those houses cut 1,000 girls first round.
