don't get upset

Each house is required to release a different amount of pnms each round based on their results in prior years. More competitive chapters have to release more pnms than other chapters as it increases the chances of every house making quota.

For example, if the computer system knows that 99% of the pnms who are invited back to ABC historically want to accept the invitation but only 90% of pnms who are invited back to XYZ want to, ABC will have to cut more pnms than XYZ to ensure they both have about the same number of pnms attend Round 2 parties.

While almost every house will cut for grade risks after today, some houses may have to cut deeper (no recs, questionable reputation, legacies with sitting sisters who are known to be pledging their legacy house, higher GPA cut offs than other chapters, etc).

Other houses may not be able to cut all of the pnms they wanted to and will keep hacking at their release list during the week.

It also forces pnms to seriously look at the houses that are interested in them earlier in the week. It used to be that the top houses would hold on to way too many pnms just for prestige and then they would cut huge numbers of women right before pref. Many pnms would believe they were a shoo-in and be devastated and end up withdrawing.

this is why it is important to trust the process and not freak out when/if you don't get back a full invite list tomorrow. ALMOST NO ONE WILL.

Of the four houses that took less than 140 pledges last year, on average how many active seniors do they have? Is it less than 80? I had read it was average of 20 to 30 but that would mean way more than half are gone by senior year. That can't be right, can it?

higher retention means you have a bigger chapter and also need to take less pledges. The more members stay, the less you need to take.
