I could not agree more with the comments made by another parent below. I, too, have a daughter in Greek Life at U of A. After reading several comments on this site that are posted within the page of each house, I could not be more disappointed in the sisters within the respective houses. The arrogance and bullying that is contained in many of the comments is shameful. I'm sorry that my daughter is involved in any organization that participates in or encourages this type of behavior, and I'm especially saddened that this site even pretends to provide a helpful service.

I agree with the statements of both of these mothers. I am so disappointed to know that my daughter is working her tail end off right now to join a sorority and I am questioning the motivation of some of these sisters to be in a sorority. I see a lovely opportunity to grow, develop and utilize leaderships skills that will last a lifetime. What does my daughter gain by joining a sorority that does nothing but bully others? She left that when she left high school, or so I thought. A part of growing up is accepting others for who they are and being able to work with one another without being intimidated. Study the traits of the great leaders of this country and answer me this: do they emulate the personalities of sisters in your sorority? If so, it would be an honor for my daughter to be your sister. If not, it would be a waste of her time.

Rushmom, what house on this campus bullies others? The houses on this campus foster involvement, leadership, and love for their sisters and greek community. I think it is naive to believe that leaving high school means the end to all immaturity. The students on campus are emerging adults and have a lot of growing up left to do. You are right, a part of growing up is accepting others, but clearly not everyone has come to that point in their development as soon as they enter college. A part of growing up also involves learning to identify people who share your values and creating distance from those who don't. You will not get along with everyone no matter what part of life you are in. I think it is also naive to believe that every negative post on this site comes solely from a member of the greek community. There are plenty of negative comments being made from those not in a sorority or fraternity.

If you use this site as your means to judge sororities and fraternities at any university you won't get an accurate representation, just the same if you were to use movies as a way to understand greek life. The houses on this campus do a lot of good for their communities as well as their members during college and after when they start their careers.

I wish your daughter luck. I'm sure as the week unfolds she will find a place to call home with with a group of women she will be proud to call her sisters.

Thank you for taking the time to respond to my post. I dont think this site represents the entire Greek system. I, however, may not be as niave as a new freshman coming in that may be utilizing this site as a means for information. In my opinion a site like this should be moderated or taken down because the majority of comments are negative and unfortunately can be used as a means to choose a sorority or fraternity. You are absolutely correct in that those entering college as freshman may not receive the comments the same way as myself. Bottom line is sites like this do not assist with the recruitment process and should be banned. Every house deserves the chance to recruit good students that want to grow.

I'm hoping you're a troll. Anyone can write anything on this site. Doesn't even mean they're from Arkansas. I suggest you get off this site completely. If you can't I sure wouldn't judge the universities Greek system or any of their houses by it!

Coming from Texas, i think U of Arkansas has one of the most inclusive sorority rushes I have ever heard of. Each house took over 100 girls for their new member classes. That is a LOT of girls to get to know and to watch out for. Even UT doesn't carry that many girls at one time. My experience is that every house has their ups and downs. Bullying is not part of the fabric of sorority life, but they member expect the girls to understand there is a hierarchy and they might not be considered as special as they were at their high school. Just consider this an introduction to the world outside the bubble of home. Anyway, congratulations to ALL the sororities and their new members!!! My hope is everybody found a place to call home...

Thank you to the parents who have spoken up. As a mom of a new Univ of A student, it is heartbreaking to read all of the negative comments and bullying against other sororities. I don't understand how you all can judge girls you don't even know. You "ladies" are not in high school anymore. Grow up and respect each other for being individuals. None of you are "better" than anyone else. Everyone has value and has something to offer. I would much rather my daughter be a good hearted, kind human being than a judgmental bully! The real world is full of all kinds of different people...and just remember that one day you may be working for one of the people you are making fun of. The "different" people (Bill Gates for example) are usually the ones who make it big in this world. Please grow up and act like adults instead of spoiled little brats!! Your parents are paying for you to get an education not insult other people.

I agree that most of the content on this website is disappointing. As someone coming on this site to find out about Greek life at UofA it is sad to instead find a bunch of immature bashing and high school mentality instead of support for one another. The Greek community should come together and accept everyone for who they are and share their strengths with each other to help everyone improve their chapters. I know that maturity takes time to develop...why not start now.

Parents need to get off this site. This is not what it is like in at the university itself. They could go on any university and girls will always bash one another especially since it's not in person. Greek life at the university of Arkansas is the best decision I've ever made and if parents want to base it off of this site, then they're the stupid ones.

Why do you think it's sorority girls making all the comments? It's ABOUT them but anyone can comment.
