First the Recruitment committee/alumni weed you out then actives from your area weed you out then whoever is left gets looked at by everyone during work week to weed you out then whoever is left we look at during recruitment and weed you out! See, easy! Recruitment 101!

If your rec writer sends it through your local panhellenic, then the coordinator for that sorority in that area sees it. She will then make sure all the info is included and forward it on to the chapter house at Arkansas. If she is particularly impressed by you, she might put a little note on your rec or contact the recruitment committee at UA to tell them to look out for you.

If it goes straight to UA, the recruitment committee will see it. Most of the time, it is just a "check mark" by your name that you had a rec. Having NO rec is the easiest way for houses who make a lot of cuts to thin the PNMs the first round of cuts.

Best comment by "helpful" because it is so accurate.

Occasionally and I mean very occasionally, a rec will be pulled out and looked at again when there is confusion about a PNM. Like, 80% love her and 20% just do not love her. Also helps with ranking for invites if someone is on the borderline.

Not really, but sort of... Groups that Panhellenic has already told they will have to cut 800-1,000 the first round, already have a list of a few hundred girls they are looking closely at. These lists are based on PNMs who are known to the chapter either by actives or by alumnae. Does that mean if you don't know someone you are out of the running? Not necessarily. An alum coordinator might have seen your rec and unbeknownst you loves your rec writer and gives a big push for you. PNMs might not have our chapter in mind so that frees up a spot. You could make a great impression the first day and the person you talked to is your champion.

So many factors, but most of the time your resume is a great base for us to figure out who you are and who you want to be.
