how many active seniors are there in the houses?

by: future pnm

How many active senior girls are there in each house? If you start out with 115 pledges and end up with about 40 seniors that's a good sign it's not a good house as far as sisterhood goes. Obviously by the strict grade requirements you have very few that drop out of school all together. Which houses have more than half their pledge class still active senior year?

If we are being completely honest on here if these are your expectations you might not want to go through recruitment. The houses that I know really well do not have 50 to 60 active seniors. So to answer your question there aren't that many active seniors. The junior class is a little larger than seniors but after rush/bid day the jr class tends to dwindle down considerably. Hope this helps and that I've answered your question. I guess no one really wanted to come out and say it. Probably why your question had not been answered.

Do the juniors and seniors drop out of the sorority? Why? I thought I will be joining a real sisterhood

Some students change schools. Some drop due to finances (school and/or sorority). Some travel overseas for a semester or two of schooling, then decide to take alum status from their sorority affiliation for other pursuits. If you look at the overall graduation rate for those who begin as freshmen, within the overall student body only a certain percentage graduate within 4-5 years. Some sororities even allow seniors to go on early alum status, as that is what some sororities consider the best lifelong journey for their members.

A lifelong, real sisterhood has the possibility of all life's ups and downs. We and the sorority life are not perfect. So sorority women can and do drop out, and most who drop remain lifelong sorority members. There is no shame in that part of sorority life.

So the only reason people leave is because they leave the country or they are broke? lol

Seeing the world from an overseas perspective can change your life passions upon your return home, IE taking alum status from your sorority.

Having people yell and be extremely rude to girls over rush practice or forgetting to post so called sisterhood pics weekly could be one of the reasons. I know it will be mine.

Yep. I will be scheduling class during practice next year IF I'm still around. This is not the way it is for my other friends in other houses.

The phenom is not new and occurs everywhere. A different campus with a NM class of 20 ends up with 7 by senior year. The similar percentage is gone when you take an Arkansas NM group of 120 and make it 45 by senior year. It just seems like a larger problem because the Arkansas numbers are bigger. Don't sweat the numbers, it happens all the time and all over the country.

45 is like way over half the pledge class. Sad.

If you think 45 is "way over half" of 120, you might be a grade risk.

Thinking the same. Or if you believe everyone goes alum to go study abroad or become a doctor. lol

Future pnm forgot ONE word in her sentence: 45 is like way over half the pledge class GONE.

Which it is.

120 minus 45 means 75 gone, or like way over half the pledge class gone.

The fall 2016 pledge classes ranged from 118 to 165ish. However, I agree that the activity of members decreases as they approach graduation. Other things like finding internships, finding jobs, taking MCAT, LSAT, etc. start to have more priority - and that is probably the way it should be. It gives younger women the opportunity to take on some leadership positions.

After sophomore year most members aren't active at all or very little unless they hold an office.

There is a big difference between dropping and going inactive or alum.

Dropping means you are saying you don't want to be a part of this group anymore. Dropping means you can never come back to this national organization.

Going inactive or alum (before you graduate) means that you can not handle the activity required of the sorority right now. Some people go inactive and return when circumstances change. Alum speaks for itself.

True sisterhood and true friendship means supporting your sisters as they go alum to pursue international opportunities, career opportunities, and life opportunities. For example, many women leave Arkansas to go to various medical programs. I much rather my best friend go alum in order to pursue her Physical Therapy career at another school, than to force her to put her life on hold to stay at Arkansas until Senior year because of "sisterhood" aka so our numbers look good for some PNMs who CLEARLY haven't learned anything about true sisterhood yet.

University of Arkansas has a DPT program in Fayetteville. If your best friend wants to go to a different program that is great too. But please make sure she doesn't run off without getting her baccalaureate degree because she's going to need that in order to apply to any DPT program. Hope you aren't helping her study, that could be a problem. lol lol

Those of us being forced to put our lives on hold by getting our bachelors degree would love to know the various medical programs all of your friends are leaving college in order to attend?
