so what is the story with delta gamma?

by:

Hey everyone, I have never considered joining a sorority before because I never connected with the overall "Greek life" thing. DG is re-establishing itself here at UARK and I was wondering what kinds of people will be joining, or if I would have enough time to commit to it. I am involved in leadership opportunities around campus and am an honors student. I'm not sure if I would fit in with the group of girls or even have enough time to do it. Any thoughts?

I'm sure DG will be looking for quality girls. All different personality types, but mainly girls who have campus involvement and leadership. It's worth a shot as it sounds like you are already involved. With a recolonization there will also be more leadership opportunities within the sorority. DG will need girls that can help establish the chapter at a big school like Arkansas.

DG is going to make sure they pick the highest quality girls for their recolonization. DG is invested in building a successful here so I expect them to be selective- it's SO important to get the right start here.

Being a member of a colony takes a lot of time and effort. On bid day, no one will know anything or even much about DG. There won't be a group of bigs for freshman to hang out with. There won't be traditions and a shared bond. Colony members have to put in the time to build friendships, learn about their sorority's traditions and rituals, and be involved in the Greek community.

I expect DG is looking for women who are already established and involved on campus, but if you're interested it needs to be more than a hobby for the chapter to do well. Sororities are a big time commitment, especially the first semester.

As for whether you'll fit in, DG will be trying to build a well-rounded colony class. They'll be reading girls' personalities during the rush events to make sure they're getting a good mix and not all drama queens or introverts. I'm sure they'll take 150+ members so if you can't fit into a diverse group that size, the problem is you.

You sound like a really good candidate. you should try it out. They are very strong nationally and that makes for great contacts after you graduate. Their alumni groups are very strong all over the US.

I didn't even get called back for preference night and I was devastated. I don't even know what I said in my interview that caused me to get rejected.

Over 500 girls interviewed and only 253 got bids so you're hardly the only one that didn't get one. I doubt anything you said or did made DG release you. Just like regular rush, there are usually way more qualified girls than each house can invite back. If you were really interested in DG, I'm sure they will COB in the spring.

Welcome DG! We loved having them for bid day and I'm so excited our greek system is growing! From what I heard they interviewed close to 500 girls so they were definitely selective. I saw a lot of them around they were very cute and more importantly happy.
