letters of rec
by: lettershow many letters of rec for each house before it's overkill? i know some people will get 4-5, others just 1. what is a good number and will they keep your resume/pics every time, or just one copy of each every time another rec comes in

Depends on how strong the rec letter is. If we see like a former chapter president of our chapter that knew you since a baby wrote one, then one should be enough. But if your mom's old college roommates pastor that never met you writes a vague one, its probably best to send a couple more. Three or four recommendations is usually a decent amount of info, especially since they always say the same thing. Send your resume and pic to everyone writing a rec. We keep every picture that we get, unless its a duplicate. We also keep one resume, but don't worry about overloading us with information. The more we know about you, the better off you'll be.

With recs, always go for QUALITY over quantity. Most houses require 1 main rec with 2-3 letters of support. If your BFF's mom is in ABC and has known you for 10 years, that is the perfect person to write your rec. You shouldn't hunt down randoms who won't be able to give as much personal info; in fact it can actually hurt you if you get some "average"/ generic recs from women who don't know you as well.

I just got letters of rec and not support letters. So, I got like 2 or 3 recs and then just those. Is that ok?
