dg?
by: questionMy daughter is looking at rushing...how will DG rush work? Do we need recs for DG?

DG will hold recruitment for their colonizing class after formal recruitment ends, likely in September. They will be recruiting mainly from the freshman through junior classes, with a probably a few stand-out seniors in the mix as well. DG is a sorority where women do need recs (the DG term is sponsorship form) in order to pledge so if your daughter will consider DG should she not receive a bid during formal recruitment (or should she decide to not go through formal recruitment and wait for DG's colonizing class rush), you would be wise to get her DG recs lined up now.

DG will do cob in the spring so get ur grades up ALOT and you would have a chance but you need atleast a 2.7 to be considered for DG (it's a national rule) and if ur on academic probation that means right now ur below a 2.0.... So it might not be likely... But there is not harm in trying. You for sure can join a sorority while on academic with the school though

My advice: First work on getting off academic probation because no matter how much a group likes you, you can't pledge while on it. If you have an awesome semester and can get off of it try to spring rush. DG will definitely take a spring class. Normally when colonizing the alums from the sorority stay to help recruit more members and interview potential girls. You can explain this to the panel and show them how great your grades were the past semester. Acknowledging your a grade risk but that you have a lot of potential will be important. Hopefully it works out for you! If you can't get off probation in a semester don't be afraid to rush for DG at the start of your junior year. They will be looking for good members and it's always worth a shot!

Yes, of course they'll be looking at GPA! The composition of a colonizing class is EXTREMELY important to ensure a new chapter is successful on campus. Colonizing classes include girls from all four years as it's a good opportunity to pick up some girls who are really involved and respected on campus but who never joined a sorority before. They'll want a balanced group of founding members- girls who are athletic, artistic, leaders, smart, musical, volunteer-oriented, legacies, girls from in-state and out of state, girls with varied personalities (ie, not all quiet or all loud & dominating), etc.
Basically the same things that chapters look for during formal rush is what DG will look for when they colonize.
