off campus houses
by: GreekIt looks like three houses are still chartered but not recognized by the school (TKE, Sigma Chi, and DKE) and will actually be rushing TOGETHER this semester. I've heard that they've been talking and in the process of organizing an official non-IFC related rush. Thoughts on this? Curious to see how this affects IFC rush/houses and the overall Greek Life setting.

those houses lost their charters which is why they didn't survive. Had they retained national recognition, they could still be thriving. The key is getting nationals to have your back when the school doesn't.

^ literally ask any girl what they think about TKE's pledge classes they got off campus. All weird dudes

From a girl's perspective, I think it's safer to party with a recognized fraternity. That way if something happens to you at the party ASU (or just a recognized fraternity in general) is held liable for it. That's why I don't really like geed parties and TKE, Sig Chi, and DKE are no different

How can you prove that they have insurance when there is no umbrella organization to overseee and make sure these regulations are actually being followed? Anyone can say "we have insurance", that doesn't make it true. Like it or not, being part of IFC is what gave these organizations their credibility in the first place. The whole reason why these guys got kicked off campus was because they couldn't follow the rules and regulations, why would it be any different now?

The fraternity having a charter is proof they have insurance. IFC recognition just means the fraternity is registered with the school. That recognition has nothing to do with the fraternity's ability to operate or possession of insurance. When you pay dues to nationals (which every member of a fraternity with a charter does), part of those dues go to insurance.
In the past, fraternities without recognition have had their charters pulled almost immediately, which was what killed them. If these guys can keep nationals off their backs, they'll be fine.

These three houses are going to kill it this year. They did so when they were on Hayden Lane, and will do so again if they're working together. That's honestly the most cooperation I've seen in Greek Life at ASU, because we don't get along whatsoever. If three off-campus houses are willing to cooperate and go against the school, we in on-campus houses have some serious competition and need to step our game up.

these 3 former top on campus houses are about to kill it off campus. they'll take all the dope kids during their rush before on campus ifc's rush. just wait i'm sure this will start a new trend where houses start leaving the school and actually do what they want. DKE, Sigma Chi, and TKE are about to destroy it just like the old days on hayden lane.

Yes, they were great houses. But how long do off campus fraternities stay relevant? SAE, sig nu, psk, and AEPi have no relevancy anymore, and they haven't been gone long. I feel bad for the kids that get suckered into joining off campus houses because of dirty rushing.
