are grades important
by: Mandaobviously grades are important but im going to be an incoming freshman and i would like to rush but my gpa is a 2.4, are there any sororities that take that gpa.

Think on if rushing first semester is really the best idea for you. First, most houses do huge cuts after the first day for GPA, so expect to be dissapointed. Also, college is 10x more demanding than high school. If you could only manage a 2.4, you're going to have a hard time at ASU. Lastly, Greek life is a huge commitment. Even if you do end up getting a bid, you could be put on probation for a poor GPA later down the road.
Maybe take the first semester/year to build up your GPA and study skills, then go through recruitment. In the end, this is a university and we are all here for a degree first! Most sororities put a pretty high value on academic success considering these organizations were mostly founded during a time when women were inferior to men. We want strong, smart, independent women to continue the ideas and hopes of our founders. A girl that asks "if grades matter" doesn't sound like a woman I'd want in my chapter.

If you rush this fall, you will most likely get dropped from many houses because of your GPA. If you are really set on joining a sorority this fall, maybe look into Kappa Delta, who is colonizing this year and will more likely be open to girls with lower GPA's. If not, maybe wait until the spring to rush, and then you can use your college GPA.
