kappa sigma
by: freshmanMy dad was a member of Kappa Sigma at ASU back in the 80s, and I'm an incoming freshman for this coming fall. I'm not sure how fraternities work or if I'm even going to rush, but are they a good chapter? I've read a lot of the posts here (i know, i know) and some say they're in the top and some say they're a bunch of degenerates. Can someone please give a non-biased description of them? Thanks

I used to go to their parties almost every weekend freshman year and they're honestly great. I heard from my friends in kappa sig that their pledging is tough but honestly you're not going to find a fraternity that doesn't have a pledge process. I personally think they're sweet guys and if I were you just go to their table at walk around and see what they're what you want! Best of luck!

Pros: Not top house but in the upper 25%. Prioritizes partying and brotherhood. One of the oldest chapters on campus and their brotherhood bonds reflect that. Philo is for military vets. Tough but very rewarding pledge process- "Its not four years, it's for life". Huge alumni network for both their chapter and nationals. Never a dull moment around these guys.
Cons: low participation in greek events ie. Sorority philos, greek week, etc. Dont care about how they represent greek life to the public. Occasionally they party too hard and do something stupid and get themselves in trouble. Some of the brothers are try hards. Occasionally some brothers are disrespectful.
Just go meet some of the bros at walk around and see if you fit in. No use trying to make a judgment before you have met them in person.
