tke

by:

From what we've seen last semester and now this semester so far from rush, parties, and involvement, it doesn't look like TKE is going out any time soon. Believe me, I for one expected (and also hoped to some extent) that they would die down, but it looks like they're only becoming stronger. They took a solid pledge class last semester and had great parties. Their rush this semester was just as big as their fall, which doesn't happen even with on-campus houses. I've also seen them do quite a bit of community service lately, and IFC has gone to the point of bribing sororities with money to disallow them from participating. That just shows that IFC feels they are a threat. Not to mention, they have a complex. I know this idea will get shot down, but their success so far has led me to believe that we as on campus fraternities should have the discussion as to whether or not it is worth being on campus.

Being on campus is NOT worth it

TKE has been straight up killing it this year. The things they've been able to do just being the only one off campus, just imagine if we were to collaborate and use our leverage to unify off campus and govern ourselves without the school.

I'd have to agree, never in a million years would I have expected an off campus fraternity, much less TKE, to succeed for a year. It is really disappointing that ASU administration has created such a unreasonable and inhospitable environment for on-campus houses. Maybe the future is heading off campus... fraternities would be able to form their own councils and do whatever they please with little regulation or interference from ASU. Who knows, only time will tell.

If being off campus is so great, why is Sig Chi petitioning to IFC to come back on campus?

They are not, thats the less than 40 % of brothers that stuck around. The rest are all out of sigma chi, so the ones that are staying are the select few that liked being on campus.. do your research a little more before you try acting like you know anything about us.

^^ Lol so salty. I don't care if it's 90% of the brothers or 10% of the brothers that wanted to be on campus, they still represent Sig Chi as a whole meaning to the general public it makes it seem like you guys are begging IFC/ASU to be back on campus.

If you can't go greek go TKE

TKE's special because they're still nationally recognized. Most nationals will not recognize fraternities that are not recognized by the school. At that point, you're just a couple of guys who like to party and chase girls together.

It's a solid idea, but some chapters nationals won't allow them a charter of you aren't accepted by the university

TKE's success comes from them still having a charter. If they lost their charter, they'd be just like SAE, Sig Nu, and AEPi. They can still do pretty much everything except do Philos, but that's why they compete under the guise of Animal House. I commend TKE, even as an IFC recognized fraternity, for keeping strong Exec in charge even though it would be very easy to back down and take the easy way out. They still are a fraternity in mine, and many others, eyes.

why don't several of the fraternities that are feeling this way come together, and draft a contract that asu has to sign, otherwise they will leave campus? ASU doesn't want greek life off campus, where there will be zero regulation and it will reflect poorly on the school. If they realize that is what they are up against, they may become much more reasonable. I'm talking about adopting a model similar to other big schools= where the university works with the fraternities, because they know the consequences of them going off campus.
