which sorority?

by:

I will be a sophomore this year and after not rushing last year I decided maybe this fall :) I am very excited but a little shy, can anyone give me tips and pointers to making a good impression? Also which sororities are able to have fun but also stay focused in school? Thanks!

All of them focus on academics and most of them have GPA's above the all sorority and all women GPA. Your grades are your responsibility. You have to have good time management and you will do fine. All the sororities have fun. Which sorority? The one you click with and it may not be the one you love the first day.

Practice talking to people you don't know well. Good eye contact and have some go to conversation starters if you get stuck. It is always harder for shy girls to stand out in formal recruitment. Have fun, smile and talk. Don't answer with just yes or no.

Go gamma phi or AGD it will do you good, your shy and weird already it will bring it out even more. Sigma Kappa if you weigh over 185lbs.

Ignore what people say about the weight and "top house" stuff. All that really matters is that you click with the girls. Gamma Phi Beta and Alpha Gamma Delta are really great houses! They both have several Barrett Honors girls and GPB has several bio chem and engineering majors, if that helps. But it really is up to you to keep your GPA up, sorority life is time consuming but it is possible to still have a 4.0 and be Greek. Plus sororities usually have an academic reward system that motivates you to have a high GPA and there are always study hours that are mandatory. Hope this helps and I hope you find your letters!

I'm pretty sure that Theta has consistently had the top GPA for like the past 5 years.

the only reason theta has a high gpa is because they are all communications majors, take six years to finish (if ever) and take a ton of yoga/p.e. classes. If one theta took one engineering class, I'd laugh my head off.

I'm not gonna defend Theta, just stating the facts. They have consistently had the highest GPA. Not saying that they have challenging majors, which I'm sure some of them do, but the GPA is there.

I believe Theta has a higher minimum GPA than other houses wheras the rest just follow the Panhellenic of 3.0 or above.

All of the houses are required to maintain a certain GPA, and a majority of them do. Each house also house has girls from all majors, and Im sure you could find someone who is more than willing to stay focused on school as well as have fun in any of them:) Also don't worry about being shy, all the girls try their best during recruitment to help with easy conversations! And also keep in mind each house has some girls that are as shy as you are! Just remember to try your hardest to represent yourself well, and have fun! Rush is a great experience!

Does anyone know what theta's minimum GPA to rush is?

I believe they don't invite you back if your GPA is lower than 3.5 except for very special exceptions. Not sure what their rules are for legacies or rec letters I think legacies get a courtesy call back in any house they're a legacy at.

Don't give false information. You're not in Theta, you don't know anything about their membership selection. To @sororitytysophomore, I can tell you with 100% certainty that a 3.5 is incorrect.

I get that you definitely don't want to be giving out information that might be sensitive to what may or may not be your sorority so I hope you don't mind me asking but can you tell me if the GPA requirement is lower or higher? I want to know if I have a chance or if I'll automatically get dropped on day one

The chapters with the highest GPAs are 1. Theta and 2. AGD. AGD is known for taking girls with lower GPAs than Theta and helping them raise them. They have a wide array of majors

Theta, ChiO and AGD are all super involved in school. They consistently have Student Government members, club leaders etc. Sounds like you might like these! :)
