If you are a freshman, these are the only houses you really should be checking out at all. Coming from a guy in an on-campus fraternity with full university recognition

On Campus:
-Sig Ep: Undisputed top house both on and off-campus. Great relations, brotherhood, and athletics. Losing complex however so that may hurt them.
-Lambda Chi: Don't pledge so if you want an easy in, join them. Good relations and athletics though.
-DKE: Known as try-hards on campus and have been on the decline but are definitely one of the better houses.

Off Campus:
-Sig Chi: An undisputed top house. Have been on the decline, but still great social rep, great alumni, and relations with top sororities. Losing complex, but will still have housing arrangements to rage no doubt.
-TKE: An undisputed top house last fall, fell off because of an incident involving an MLK gathering that blown out of proportion. Have been under the radar but should be coming back strong with a dope new complex. Good relations and solid group of guys, know how to party.
-Theta Chi: Definitely one of the top houses last year, got in trouble but will be operating as usual. Great group of guys, rage hard, and have good athletics. Also keeping their complex so should be strong in the fall.

If you don't care what the fraternity's status is in terms of university recognition, this would be the order in which you should rush, factored by housing/brotherhood/relations

2) Sig Chi
3) TKE
4) Theta Chi
5) Lambda Chi
6) DKE
