another question about the glv
by: freshieso i just saw a post below from a freshman about living in a frat house in the glv. i have similar comments and questions about that for sororities. tbh, i was really disappointed that asu doesn't have a real sorority row with mini-mansions, but it is what it is. but does every girl in the house have to live in the glv for at least a semester like at my friend's school? are there any private bedrooms or are they all shared? and do any have off-campus houses like frats do? i would hope that they smell better (lol) but i could see them being so cute! sorry not sorry for all the questions! i probably should have paid more attention in the orientation meeting.

requirements are different for every house but not everyone from a PC is required to live in because none of the houses are big enough to accommodate that many people (plus older girls will sometimes live in too). most of the time you are expected to be prepared to live in as a sophomore/in your second year of membership but obviously not everyone does live in. as for houses off campus they’re less “official” than frat houses are because sororities don’t host parties but plenty of sorority girls rent apartments and houses with their sisters.

like the poster above mentioned, houses in the glv aren't large enough to accomodate everyone. i can only speak from my experience, but i absolutely LOVED living in the glv! our house didn't have singles (other than for the president) and ngl i wasn't super-psyched to share a room with someone. plus, every house has shared bathrooms with like 10 girls. i know...i know, that sounds awful. but there was never a wait for a shower, you have a locker to store things (same with the kitchen) and there was ALWAYS someone to study, cook, grab a bite to eat, go shopping, exercise, watch tv, or just hang with. maybe guys have a different perspective because they can't party in the glv but can party in their other houses. since srats don't host parties that isn't an issue. please don't let the "communal" piece of glv living scare you. truly some of my best college and sorority memories were from living in the house! not at formals, etc. but just the day to day. good luck!
