I’m glad I didn’t join a sorority
by: Thankful
I’m a senior at ASU. I have to say I have no regrets not joining. I have friends that are in a mix of different so called “tier ranked” sororities and they are constantly complaining of cliques, mean girls, drama and trying to fit in. They never talk about sisterhood or philanthropy. It’s basically a status thing. Girls want to out do each other on Instagram. You can’t be yourself.
In reality, having a sorority on your resume isn’t going to make a difference. Everyone knows the reputation at ASU.
I’ve been involved in different clubs, worked and have done summer internships all related to my degree and received a great job offer and yes I’ve partied and have gone to frat parties. Tbh. I’ve seen more damage done to girls (mentally and emotionally) that have joined sororities vs those that hadn’t joined.
It’s sad that girls feel that joining a sorority is the end all be all of college life. None of that matters when you graduate.

ty to the op. i've been debating whether to go thru recruitment as a sophomore. tbh reading thru the comments on this site the greek community at asu sounds really hateful. went to a dayger yesterday and met so many people (who didn't care at all that i'm a "gdi") i think i'm gonna pass. i've heard it's much better to have internship experience and be in clubs related to your major than to have social sororities on a resume anyway. now i don't have to worry about doing my video at the last second!

I’m in a so called top sorority. Some of what’s said on this site is true and not true. But here is what’s true.
- There are cliques
- There are mean girls
- There is competition between girls
- Being pretty and hot is a big deal
- You do feel you have to keep up with trends
- Girls don’t join for philanthropy and good will
- They put same girls on the sorority Instagram posts. You won’t see half of those members on there especially the undesirables
Some like it and do make friends but there’s a lot of bad that out weighs the good. ASU is cut throat and it’s sad that our greeklife has such a bad rep. We lack class for sure.
Oh and whoever posted that ASU sororities look like strippers for hire. Yep! A lot of them do. You should see some at frats and bars.
