GLV. How does your chapter get you to live there?
by: Housing
I don’t get why anyone would actually want to live in the GLV. My chapter pretty much threatens us. Yea, because that’s real brotherhood/sisterhood. I’d get it if they forced us to live in a chapter house if it was real housing like at other schools, or even a place to party, but this is a damn prison.
But please PLEASE PLEASE share. What’s each chapters sales pitch to their members to want you to live there? Is it more positive of a sales pitch? Is it threats? Or Lying that you’ll have a great time and it’s worth it to over pay to sleep 5 feet from a roommate.
It will be interesting to hear how the answers differ from frats to sororities. We all know we over pay for crap at the GLV. And we can’t have any fun like the 1000+ colleges that have real housing.
So I just want to hear what the others are hearing.
Hopefully this will get real answers, and is a better read then some stupid list of rankings.

Thanks for the replys. I get it, it’s not a good living situation. But people are signing leases.
But this question is for the 500 people that are gonna live in there come august 2021....
What did your chapter do to convince you to sign a lease? Was it threats? Was it saying how great it is to live with your brothers and sisters?
Do you suspect the chapter hides the negatives (sharing bedrooms/bathrooms/kitchens)
That’s what I want to know (and I think others who read this link too)

When I was in greek life, they told us during the pledge process that it was an expectation to live in for a year or to live in a satellite house, so it wasn’t much of a surprise when they asked us to sign. It’s as fun as you make it, especially if most of your pledge class chooses to live in.

pretty sad that the newest housing on campus has a tough time being filled and members are essentially forced to live there. the townhouse village with lame amenities and lamer rules has been a collossal failure and will be the death of greek life as it sinks many chapters into a cycle of unsustainable threats and debt
