Helpful Advice to PNMs

by:

so here's some thoughts from an active in a "top tier" sorority.i'm a senior, so i've seen and heard it all.
1. guess what? there's really no such thing as official rankings or tiers. just a bunch of comments on here from girls who say their srat is best.
2. i think we're considered "top" because there are so many hot girls. but there are beautiful girls in every sorority, some just focus less on perfect hair, nails and tans than others!
3. um, there's more to life than perfect hair, nails and tans
2. trust me... most frat guys can't even name 3 sororities. lol. and they definitely don't care about perfect hair, nails, and tans!
3. girls that are crushed when they don't get into our house usually find that where they ended up was always supposed to be their "home."
4. most sorority girls have friends all over greek life so if you "connect" with someone and don't end up in their chapter, you can still be friends. my roommate is in another sorority and we're very close. we also have twice as many friends as we probably would otherwise
5. the ONLY "official" and objective ranking for srats is gpa. theta and sigma kappa are usually top there.
6. there are no other objective rankings. so don't listen to what your roommate says is the best, what your mom said was the best when she went to asu, or some random comments you see here. they honestly could be the same 2 people posting over and over again.
7. things change. this year is going to be really different than any other year. some of my closest friends graduated. some girls are staying home for the fall. my "little" decided to transfer. our "top" house doesn't have the same mix of girls so no idea what the vibe will be. plus, not sure how much we'll be seeing eachother in person because of the vid.
8. as i'm staring down my senior year and not even sure i'll be able to see my sisters' beautiful smiles in person, i don't want to brag about how great my house is or knock down others. what i do want to say is that i just hope you all find your "people" and have as great an expreience as i have had.
9. now get off of greek rank!

I’m in a “top house” fraternity and can agree with guys not being able to name more than 3 and not caring about what sorority a girl is even in

11. if you try too hard to get into a sorority you really don't fit with, you'll end up being exhausted and dropping them once you accept that you don't have anything in common. or the passive-aggresive mean girls will make you feel very unwelcome and you'll drop. either way, you're out of greek life for good. it really needs to feel "natural." i can't tell you how many people i know regretted their choice and ended up out of greek life

I know of girls who didn’t rush or are in low tier sororities who are friends with girls in top tier sororities. I know girls in top tier sororities who are friends with a bunch of low tier sorority girls.

Your sorority is really only relevant the first month at ASU. It might add a little more to your schedule and be a conversation starter with frat guys. That’s it though. After the first month- people notice who you are and forget your sorority.

Same goes for fraternities too. No one cares about what house you’re in. Trust me, if anything i prefer going to bottom/mid houses just because I can actually get to know some of the guys and get more personable. Every house has losers and really hot/fun guys. It doesn’t matter what tier.

the best house is the best house for YOU! there are literally no benefits from any one house to another unless there are a bunch of alumni in a certain career who may be able to help you get started. and that's really rare. every chapter does philanthropies (at least we used to), every chapter is active socially (at least we used to be), girls dont even need to be in sororities to attend frat parties (when they are able to have them...many don't know this when they get to campus), all of the houses in the glv are identical (townhouse style built at the same time) so go where you think you will make friends and not have to be uncomfortable and fake it!

Truth. The other "official tier lists" are always written by one srat trying to sound better than all the others (and better than it is). some girls like to party more than others. some girls prefer houses that emphasize sisternhood. some focus most on ig. it all depends on what you are looking for.
