Fall 2020 Sorority Life
by: being seriousso it seems like it's mostly frats who hang out on this site, but i have a serious question for srat members. do you think that it's a good idea to take an LOA for fall 2020. we know that recruitment is 100% online. not looking good in terms of having classes in person. can't imagine that chapter meetings, socials, formals, and even philos will be in person. what will the value be of being in a house? i would hope that the friends that i've made won't drop me because i'm not an active. that would reinforce the "pay for friends" rep that my house and asu greek life in general has tried to dispel. seriously, what is anyone going to get out of greek life if it's all virtual and you're not living in the house????

It could go either way. If you aren’t living in the house or with sisters, you are going to be more disconnected this semester either way. Probably more disconnected if you take a LOA though. If you really need to save money, then it might be a good idea. But, you might want to wait a couple more weeks to see if any updates happen for ASU!

If we do have classes in person you will still be able to spend time with friends in your chapter, just in small groups. I’ve heard nationals for multiple chapters are considering lowering dues also. I would wait and see honestly because you may be really lonely (since there won’t be much to do this semester) if you do take a LOA. I think this semester could bring girls to become closer friends and value the friends they have in their chapter.

totally get the question, as i've been asking it myself. also, the advice. i think they need to reduce dues by a LOT to encourage people to stay active. i can facetime my friends for free. if there are no activities, it's going to be kind of lame. i'm not living in the house, but am living with several sisters so will be connected. i don't know.
