is it weird to get recommendations for recruitment?

i’m coming to asu from the east coast, where everyone gets recommendations for sorority recruitment. i know at some schools that aren’t in the south or on the east coast it’s not only uncommon, but it’s found to be weird.

no it isn’t weird but it doesn’t really make much of a difference having one
