my sorority experience

by:

I was an incoming freshman this semester, and I did rush last month. On bid day, I was left with a sorority where I really felt at home, and another one full of nice girls, but I didn't feel like we fit each other at all. When my Ro Chi gave me my bid I was really disappointed. She told all of us to give our house a chance, and that we all go into the house we belonged in, so I chose to join.
I've really tried these past few weeks, but I still feel the way I did on bid day. The friendships seemed forced, and I felt like I didn't belong. There was nothing about the house that I felt I connected with. I tried to make plans with the girls outside of sorority events, but they always ended up bailing on me. I felt like I would only hang out with these girls because we're in the same sorority together, so I chose to drop.
Now they always give me un-friendly looks. I think they think that I dropped because I thought I was too good for them, but that's not the case at all. I just felt like I completely ended up in the wrong house. I want to rush again next year, but I know as a sophomore theres almost no hope. Also, I think that the word will get around to the other houses that I dropped, and they'll think I have no commitment. It's really awful. I know I shouldn't, but I feel extreme resentment towards the girls that I talked to that didn't invite me back. They really ruined a part of my college experience that was so important, I just wanted the life long friendships.

#1: a lot of girls rush as sophomores so ur fine. Go through again! Although I wouldn't necessarily advertise that you dropped a sorority, I know myself and my other sisters wouldn't judge you because of that at all. Sisterhood was my #1 priority, and you deserve to be in a house where you feel those bonds.

There's girls who rush as juniors and even seniors and still get in sororities. There's nothing wrong with being a sophmore. Don't advertise the fact that you dropped, but be upfront about the fact that you wanted a house that you felt a stronger sisterhood at if someone brings it up or asks. I know me and other girls I know wouldn't judge you as long as you were honest and not vindictive.
